First of all, those who don’t know what is hosting, let me explain it to you.
Think it as a house of your blog. It’s the place where your website will live, till you give the rent. If you fail to pay the rent, you’ll be thrown out of the house.
It’s that simple to understand.
I ask you to go with self-hosting as it will give you more control over your blog and will give you easy revenue generating opportunities.

Once you enter inside the cpanel, you will find dozens of different options. You don’t have to touch any of these options.

Now, let me lighten up on how to choose a theme. It is also an important factor for ranking your site in Google or other search engines.
Choosing a theme for a website
Before choosing a theme, it is very much important to figure out what constitutes a good or bad theme. Without a theme, your website will look completely naked.
Here are a few important nuggets:
Should be simple
Doesn’t matter how modern people become, people still like simple things. Simplicity attracts people.
A theme looks great to you, but what if your audience doesn’t like it, or maybe your search engine doesn’t like. Then it’s not a good theme.
Themes come out with a lot of different colors, complex layouts, flashy graphics but rarely you need them all. Also rarely, it will help your cause.
It’s not your good theme that will attract your audience. It’s the content inside that will attract more and more visitors to your site.
One more thing, too fancy stuff can slow down your site.
Should be Responsive
What do I mean by responsive?
Responsive theme adjusts themselves in different screen sizes. Not all your traffic will view your site on mobile. Some may open in desktop, some may be in a tablet.
So it’s very important for your theme to be responsive.
According to Google, mobile-friendly websites are always on top of mobile search results.
Regardless of your websites demographic or niche, all sites should be responsive and fully mobile ready.
This is the most important factor you should consider. Your theme plays an important role in sites SEO’s friendliness.
A good looking theme can still have poorly coded HTML, this could affect your site’s performance on search engines.
Lastly, you may be thinking of whether you should go with the FREE theme or PAID theme. Let me highlight a few certain problems with FREE themes. It will help you to make decisions properly.
- Free themes are not regularly updated.
- They are abandoned completely
- You will get no support
- The quality of code is not always good.
- All themes may not be responsive.
