Ever wondered to know the technology of any website. If yes, you’re in the correct place.
Before starting any business, it is important to know your competitors. Most people think having too much competition is a matter of worry, but they’re wrong. Competition inspires to move forward, motivates to do something better and unique than theirs.
If you’re starting an online business, you too should know about your competitors and the products or technology used.
Here are some tools which will let you identify technology of any website. These tools will scan the entire source code of the website and lets you identify the Content Management System(CMS), identify the scripts used, analyze the framework, etc.
Here are some of the most important tools which will be very helpful in market research. There are many tools in the market, but I have shortlisted the best out of it.
Library sniffer for google chrome
It is a google chrome extension and is very easy to use. You just have to install in your chrome browser by going to chrome extension store
After installing this plugin, you simply visit any website and it will automatically scan the entire website and display the results in front of you.
Wappalyzer is the next popular chrome extension which uncaps the technologies used in any website. This tool works in the same way as Library Sniffer.
It detects e-commerce platforms, content management systems, server software, web frameworks, analytics tools used and many more.
The data or information are processed through API’s and datasets, providing valuable insights into the software industry.
This extension is also very simple to use. Simply install the extension from the google chrome extension store.
Visit any website you want to know about and press the extension icon. It will display all the information in front of you.
BuiltWith is another tool which is used to check the details of any website. This is a powerful online tool which is used by many marketers.
This tool analyzes a website and displays information on the different technologies used.
It breaks down into different services tools and functions that the site uses.
BuiltWith takes a deep scan of the site and gives us a detailed report of the website.
It can also be used to check the security of the site.
This tool is mostly used for market analysis and provides deeper and accurate results with the paid version.
The free version provides enough in-depth information like Server information, CMS, CDN, Documents Information, Widgets, Audio/Videos Used and many more.
W3Techs is another powerful tool and is widely used. It is an online tool, but its chrome and Mozilla extensions are also available.
This tool is very effective as it does a deep scan and brings out a detailed report in front.
It gives the complete detailed information of the tools used in the searched website, along with it the ranking of the site and other details like CMS, CDN, server information, images used, traffic analysis tool, etc.
This is also an amazing and easy tool but is only used to detect the Content Management System(CMS) of a website. This tool doesn’t analyze any other information like the other tools mentioned above.
WhatCMS is simple to use and loads fast. Simply put the website URL and it will display the CMS.
All the above tools are best and give accurate results, but BuiltWith is my personal favorite. This tool provides detailed information which is good for researching.
